The Social Studies curriculum at the moment doesn't have hardly anything extra to add to the chapters in the book. It does have some online content, but my students don't have online access at home since they are Amish. By purchasing interactive curriculum on Teachers Pay Teachers, it will keep my students more engaged with hands on learning. I also find that when we do projects and add items to their interactive notebooks they seem to remember the content better. In 8th grade we focus on US History. There are so many good resources on Teachers Pay Teachers, but my school did not give me any money last year or this year to purchase supplemental material to use.
