Movement and exploration are two huge components when teaching students who have Autism. Another main focus is a self-soothing or calming environment. A calming area within the classroom is essential when teaching a student how to overcome anxiety and meltdowns that will occur throughout the school day. Research shows that students with Autism learn best through listening to music at the same time as watching lyrics or calming movements. On a daily basis teachers are seen using “best practice” throughout their day. When the classroom is put together and complete, the stage for success will be set. Once the stage is set, the characters are in place and the curtain rises, success for our students will become inevitable and the curtain will never fall.
