Reading is a fundamental part of a child’s educational growth. Many young adults are reluctant readers who find little value or interest in the written word. When I ask my students why they don’t like reading, many of them will say things like it’s boring or they can’t find a good book. I then take on the challenge to find a “just right” book for them. I want them to experience the joy and love of reading that I have grown to experience throughout my life. Therefore, it is imperative that students be exposed to a variety of books that meet their interests as wells as levels. I want to build a classroom library for my students that not only exposes them to the classics but also allows them to be exposed to diverse and multicultural literature that they can identify with.
