As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, a lot needs to happen so that students can learn and thrive without raising the risk of spreading the virus. The goal of having children attend school in person--which is how they learn best--is only safe when a community has the spread of the virus under control. And then, when it is possible to open a school for in-person learning, a layered approach is needed to keep students, teachers, and staff safe. Traditionally, ​schools provide more than just academics to children and adolescents - post-COVID, safety means more than just from violence and instability in the home. As we prepare to return to brick and mortar instruction, it is imperative that scholars are set up to be successful. PPE is a necessity that everyone cannot afford. As a member of the Community Partnership Team, I would like to ensure that every scholar receives a PPE kid and a cloth mask; this will ensure that everyone in the building is safe and ready to learn.
