The need for technology in the second-grade classroom is vital for our academic success! Our class needs high-quality, reliable, and sturdy headphones to use with our Chromebooks. As my students are learning phonological awareness, correct letter sounds, sound-spelling patterns, blends, diagraphs, and building oral reading fluency skills using technology, they need reliable headphones to hear clearly, especially my ELL students and students receiving Title Reading and Speech/Language Services virtually during remote and in-person learning. New readers need to read aloud. They need to hear themselves to process this new skill of reading. Plus, I need to hear them, so I know when and how to step in and help. And they need to read a lot! One of the programs I use allows students to record themselves reading. Using high-quality headphones while using their Chromebooks is extremely important, and it can make all the difference in the world. Students can work independently in centers on Chromebooks while their classmates work in small groups. Quality headphones can help them tune out background noise and concentrate on their learning; remote learners need to be able to use them at home while they continue their education for the duration of the 2020-21 school year.
