Many kids struggle with reading. Learning to read fluently requires a building block of skills. However, in my classroom of scholars with multiple disabilities, reading is a stumbling block. Many of their academic goals include building reading skills. One of the keys to helping my scholars reach their goal is providing them with necessary tools to become an engaged reader. Technology engages all scholars. The Kindle Fire can provide a way to remediate reading difficulties and increase skill level. The Kindle Fire can also accommodate a student’s desire to want to read and make learning fun. The Kindle Fire is compatible with the learning apps that have been acquired by our school district. We are currently utilizing Google Classroom; this platform on a Kindle Fire will provide my scholars the chance to be independent. Kindle Unlimited will also give my scholars the chance to read their favorite books. The donation of Kindle Fires will provide a building block for strengthening reading skills and help my scholars to become independent readers.
