The students in my class really benefit from multimodal learning. They need to learn things using all of their senses, and physical manipulatives such as Unifix cubes, and tactile number lines helps them to better understand what they are being asked to do. In my class, I have a student with Cortical Vision Impairment, so she has a hard time seeing what is on the screen during virtual learning. She needs physical manipulatives that she can grab and touch to help her count. The unifix cubes will be great to help her practice counting objects. The tactile number lines will also help her and the other students practice counting, adding and subtracting, with an extra sensory aspect. All of my students will benefit from using physical manipulatives at home for math. Being able to take their eyes off of the screen and immerse themselves into the math problems will really help with their engagement and focus as well. Using individual white boards with virtual learning will also benefit my students, because those who are unable to talk, or prefer to write/draw to communicate would be able to. Students can also use their whiteboards to work out math problems on their own, and practice writing. During virtual learning, my students use stories, worksheets, slideshows, activities, and games from TeachersPayTeachers almost every day! There are so many helpful and creative items on TpT that I would love to use, but they are just too expensive. My students need fun, creative, and engaging learning materials to keep them focused and engaged with their learning. TeachersPayTeachers has been a place where I can find the most amazing supplemental activities to help my students learn, and they would definitely benefit from my future use of TpT!
