As a first year teacher, coming from teaching virtually (08/20-03/21), I haven't had the opportunity to kick start my classroom library. Providing my future 4th grade students with these culturally responsive books, will not only yield them with with the opportunity to gain understanding of other cultures, but also encourage my students to read. I think it is very important to have a culturally responsive classroom because it allows individuals to be able to focus on the acceptance of differences. Everyone knows the importance of reading and providing this library will give students will shift back to the love of reading hard copy books after reading electronic books for about a year and a half.
