An author study is a wonderful way for children to talk about books, perspective, author's style, and life experiences. Sharon Creech has a distinctive style and beautifully written, age-appropriate texts that open the door for reading groups to talk about real-life experiences and issues such as family dynamics, gender equality, loss, etc. My students will receive two different texts by this author for two book club experiences. They will have opportunities to talk about their reading in small groups of 4 - 6 students. Literature allows us to view the world and share our experiences.
