Sensory Integration is the process by which we receive information through our senses, organize this information, and use it to participate in everyday activities. This information is received by our brain from our 7 senses: visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory, olfactory, vestibular, and proprioception. Once our brain receives sensory information, it must be able to modulate that information, respond appropriately, and remain at the appropriate level of arousal and alertness. In the school environment, children with over/under-responsive or underdeveloped sensory systems may present with poor core and fine motor strength, balance, motor planning, organization, and attentional difficulties. By donating to our project, you will help our children develop and engage their senses, efficiently organize sensory information, regulate their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, improve motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, visual-perceptual-motor skills, language development, and improve their participation in the academic environment.
