My students are having a hard time learning decimals. We've tried using pennies and other household materials, but a large subset of students aren't mastering the concept. Providing students with Base 10 blocks will allow them to compare numbers, understand the relationships between tenths, hundredths and thousands place. Bring hands-on-learning and manipulatives to each student as they learn remotely. With these manipulatives, my students will be able to understand the relationship of equivalent decimals, compare decimal numbers and they will be able to mirror my instruction during our synchronous learning sessions. Students will then be able to extend the lesson independently as they practice at home asynchronously.
