Because of the pandemic, my elementary students are distance learning and physical education is being done at home. Being at home all day on a computer is difficult enough but it is especially hard for a child who should be playing and moving outside. I have designed a highly engaging physical education unit that uses sidewalk chalk to support movement concepts including balance, body control, eye-hand coordination and problem solving all using sidewalk chalk. Reading and math skills are integrated as a natural part of the activities. Tic Tac Throw, Alphabet Hopscotch and Chalk Maze are just a few of the activities in the unit.
