A vital portion of our day consists of a discovery/STEM driven choice time. This is a flexible station time in which students can choose from various construction, artistic, and imaginative play focused activities. Activities are rotated daily based on the personal interests of the students. Materials purchased would enhance the students’ ability to communicate with peers while using critical and abstract thinking skills. Materials also closely follow the Reggio Emilia approach which emphasizes “natural” learning experiences. Developmentally, this time is very beneficial and necessary for this age group. Having a large selection of materials will increase engagement and provide more learning opportunities. .
