Games can support kids in practicing patience, communication, sharing, problem-solving, teamwork and regulation skills. “The ‘superpower’ of humankind is our capacity to connect; it is regulating, rewarding and the major ‘route’ by which we can teach, coach, parent, heal, and learn.” - Dr. Bruce Perry Positive human interaction and playing games activates our brain’s reward centers, which helps us to “feel better” both emotionally and physically. Playing games with loved ones allows kids’ stress and worry to diminish in a developmentally appropriate way, while also building on connectedness with family/friends. Help me in providing activities that kids can do with their family members at home during these chaotic and unpredictable times. Lastly, during these stressful times, many kids are forgetting to just be kids. Playing games can be a great way to remind children that their main priority is to have fun, spend quality time with loved ones, and take a break from the computer screen!
