Reading in a second language is a very important tool in language acquisition. Students in my classroom love the choice to pick their own Spanish books to independently read. Our school library has a very limited amount of Spanish books so I would like to be able to provide my students access to a Spanish digital library where they can access hundreds of books with varying levels that match their own Spanish language level. Students will be able to access the digital library anywhere/anytime! Research has consistently shown that reading in the target language results in rapid improvements in language acquisition. By providing opportunities for students to read in Spanish, they will be able to acquire the language in a more organic way. Through leveled reading method, students will not only see increased gains in language acquisition but its also a very effective way of engaging students. Through access to the digital library, students will be able to access hundreds of leveled reading books in Spanish both for in-person learning or distance. As their teacher, I will be able to keep track of their learning progress through the digital platform.
