My school has limited musical resources in our music classroom. I would like to expand our instrument options to provide students with another dimension of elementary music education. Having various instruments at our disposal will open up more avenues for both teaching and learning. Having a set of African drums will allow students to practice steady beat, learn drumming techniques, provide accompaniment for songs, and foster creative improvisation. Becoming musically independent through a wide variety of musical experiences is my yearly goal. This project would expand our music room lessons and activities through providing students with possible once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
