Right now, we mostly learn science through reading or videos. Science is really about interacting with the world and learning through those experiences. The State science standards now emphasize the behaviors of a scientist and require more project-based learning. Having hands-on learning experiences would help students better meet these standards and encourage engagement on in the curriculum. I would like to purchase sensory tables to fill with earth elements (such as loam/clay/sand/water/3 types of rocks) that relate to our earth sciences units for some hands on learning outdoors. We would like to have electromagnet and electric circuit kits to help students understand physical science concepts around electricity for indoor hands-on learning.
