I teach in high school in Newark at the top magnet school in the city and a top 25 school in New Jersey. I teach Global Politics, Philosophy, and Theory of Knowledge in the elite International Baccalaureate Program and coordinate the Extended Essay diploma requirement. My computer is starting to malfunction after months of remote learning, and applications like Webex, Kahoot, Padlet, Kialo, and others are all lagging during instruction and failing at times. Currently, I can barely share my screen and lecture, let alone host seamless, more interactive lessons involving debates, roundtable discussions and Socratic seminars, role-playing a historical scenario, or student art galleries.
