My students are extremely excited for our new Digital Art course that we've added to our schools course offerings. Within this course, students can be both be creative, and also learn and use current technology. It has by far become one of our most desired courses. The issue that I am having is that a few (4 total) of my lower income students do not have their own laptops to use while at home. Yes - my school has provided Chromebooks, which in many cases is all that a student would need to participate in their remote learning. But, my Digital Art students need to use drawing tablets (which I do have) within my curriculum, and drawing tablets DO NOT work on Chromebooks. I feel terrible that not all students will have equitable resources,. After failing to convince my school to provide laptops, I'm at a point, and would rather not accept, that these students who do not have the means to purchase their own laptops will now be at a disadvantage and may have to drop a course that they truly love. With 4 laptops, all my students will then have the resources they need, and I'll be able to provide a valuable Digital Art curriculum for all.
