As we are approaching the winter months, my students will unfortunately spend much more time within our classroom due to the weather. I want to be able to bring a bit of the outside in! These materials will be used to create an indoors "outside." This center will be utilized in multiple ways for my students. During free play, this area will be used to build imaginative play skills for my students. Students will be able to sit in the grass, play gardener with the pretend plants and enjoy a little bit of nature even during the cold months. This center will be placed by a window that provides a lot of natural sunlight to give it a more realistic feel. This area will also encourage social skills with multiple children playing together. Children do their best work when they are happy. With so many of my students enjoying the grassy part of our playground, including a nature area in my classroom will help increase student engagement and attention. We can easily bring individualized programming to a child in this area, and work one on one with the child on the floor surrounded by our plants and grass.
