Our school is located in Archer Heights in Chicago. Approximately 98 percent of the school is Mexican American. The creativity and pride in the culture of the school is off the charts. The canvases will provide Art Club with the ability to decorate the school with pictures they want to add to the hallways. Students 3rd-6th grade are participating in the project. The Art Club also provides our students with an opportunity for social emotional learning and to show pride in the Latino culture. They often do not have opportunities to socialize except at family parties, but not with their friends from school. The neighborhood can be dangerous and often children can not walk around outside. This club provides them with learning how to paint large pictures while having fun with their peers.
