During the times of this pandemic due to novel corona-virus, I sincerely wish to provide a classroom to my students with an air purifier so that students are able to breathe in fresh and clean air and avoid possible aerosol transmission. This is all the more important as windows in the classroom cannot be opened for ventilation. The school building is very old built in 1920's and does not have HVAC filtration system. An air purifier can be used to increase supplemental ventilation. While ventilation is important for good indoor air quality, consider it as part of a larger effort to provide a healthy school environment during the pandemic and may help to reduce the spread of the contaminant. More ventilation (air movement) and better filtration (air cleaning) can cut down on the number of airborne particles that linger when an infected person coughs or exhales indoors. Airborne infection is 15 to 20 times more likely to occur indoors than outdoors.
