Due to the Financial needs of our families at Lely, our students are lacking in the need to have more experience to come to reasonable solutions more quickly and creatively when they are faced with a challenge. They need to be taught and to have modeled for them what is meant by "Grit" and never giving up. This effective critical thinking process is even more important to teach in this age for successful effective problem solving and Leadership Development. Materials such as the "Lego Star Wars Building Set" will not only enhance our curriculum with coding it will help the students see the connection of coding in their everyday lives and will definitely bring the students together to solve solutions. "Magna Building Tiles" create Open-Ended Play for children of all ages. Science is such an important component of teaching Technology. I've included materials that are STEAM-BASED to stretch and challenge the students' imagination. "Marble Run" or the "Gravity Maze" will not only motivate the students in their learning of the Flordia C-Palm Standards but aid them to explore new interests that would spark and help them find their passion and creativity they didn't even know they had. Many students at Lely Elementary have very little experience and bring very little background knowledge using these kinds of materials in Open-Ended Instruction. My goal is to set out the materials with guidance and let them explore. These materials will reach the hands of all the students at Lely and will be used for years to come to explore and build a foundation of creativity.
