The project that I want to create is helping students' social-emotional learning after the craziness of the Covid-19 pandemic. There are a lot of students who have missed out on opportunities to develop good social skills. They have also been forced to cope with very stressful situations that are not usually presented to kids this young.
I would use this project to help students learn how to effectively regulate emotions and cope with stressful situations. I will also teach them to be more aware of the students around them. They will learn how to interpret and understand their emotions as well as their fellow peers. This project will supply my classroom with a library of books about social-emotional well-being. I am also using the project for bins and beanbag chairs to create an organized, safe space for the kids to read and learn.
I also requested crayons, markers, paper, colored paper, personal whiteboards and markers, pencils, a sharpener, and organizers to supply the students with opportunities to draw and explore their emotions and feelings. Having these supplies will allow for more hands-on experiences as well as allowing for students to be more creative with their thinking and demonstrating their knowledge.
