Any time I mention the Percy Jackson series I will hear all kinds of excitement from my class. They love the ones they have read so far, and I just know they will enjoy these as well. Rick Riordan has the power to really relate to children on a level that many authors just can't reach as easily. He includes emotions and experiences that they understand, and provides them with a representation of kids just like them. This is so incredibly important and I can't stress enough how key it is for a student to find the right book for them. All it takes is one good book to make a reader for life. I believe that each of these books has the potential to encourage that kind of love of reading in each of my students.
