Language learning is more than pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. If we can immerse our students in the fun daily activities native-speakers do, we could motivate our students to sustain the curiosity in the long run. Chinese native speakers typically play a number of games in their daily lives: Yoyo, mahjong, checkers, and chess. By introducing students to these games, students will be exposed to an important part of the entertainment culture and build a stronger connection with the target language and culture. When students participate in hands-on activities and have fun in their language classroom, they are more likely to develop a positive momentum.
