Enhancing Social Emotional Skills and Positive Behavior Through Targeted Resources
Funded Aug 14, 2024I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) resources. Your support has already made a significant difference in the lives of our students, and I wanted to share the positive impact these tools are having.
The fish lamp has been especially beneficial in helping students find a sense of calm and it has helped center themselves when they feel overwhelmed. This calming resource has provided a safe space for students to reset, regain focus, and better manage their emotions. It's been wonderful to see how many students use it to create a moment of peace, which allows them to return to class activities with a renewed sense of calm.
The sensory tools in our calm down corner have been invaluable for students who need a break to reset emotionally and return to learning with focus and clarity. These tools provide a vital support system for students, particularly those who may struggle with regulating their emotions throughout the day.
Additionally, the bi-weekly class store has become a fun and motivating experience for my students. Many of the donated resources are now available for students to spend their class cash, giving them a tangible way to see the rewards of positive behavior and effort. The "Smencils" have been especially popular, and it's clear they bring joy and excitement to our students as they look forward to using them.
Your kindness and generosity have not only enhanced our classroom environment but have also fostered a sense of community and self-regulation among our students. Thank you once again for your incredible support. We are deeply grateful for your contribution, which is helping us create a nurturing and positive learning atmosphere.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Meis & her 3rd Grade Students”
With gratitude,
Ms. Meis

Lyrics2Learn - Reading Fun & Engagement
Funded Oct 12, 2020I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your generous donation to support and fund our class "Lyrics2Learn - Reading Fun & Engagement" project. The Lyrics2Learn program has been a wonderful tool for my students to use while we have been in remote learning this school year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We started using this program as a free trial, but when my students found out that our Donor's Choose project for this program was fully funded and that they would be able to continue using this in our class, they were so happy! It has been fun to see my students work on their Lyrics2Learn lessons even when they have not been assigned a lesson to complete - some of my students are choosing to do this as a self-selected activity because they do not see it as an assignment.
My students use the Lyrics2Learn reading program as part of their daily reading rotations. This program has really helped to build my students listening comprehension and reading fluency skills. I have enjoyed getting to hear how proud my students are when they score a 100% on their quizzes. It is wonderful to see my students become so proud of themselves and to watch as they gain confidence in their reading abilities. Since implementing this reading program in my class, it has been so fun to see that some of my most reluctant readers are becoming more engaged in reading.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a variety of hardships in teaching this school year, but having access to the Lyrics2Learn program while in 100% remote learning has been a great blessing to me and my students by providing consistency while making reading fun and engaging. As a teacher in a Special Education classroom, there are a variety of different needs and this program has allowed me to provide access to different levels of text to meet the individual needs for each of my students.
My students and I are so grateful for the opportunity we have had to have access to this program because of your generous donations!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Meis
