Students will use acrylic paint on canvas to paint a fanciful landscape. For this project students will learn about aerial perspective and how to show distance and increase depth in a painting. They will also use their imagination to add fanciful aspects to their painting, which will increase their creative thinking skills. Painting is a way to express emotion. During this project students will increase their mental health as they paint images and colors generated from their own thoughts and feelings. This project fulfills the Utah Visual Art Core Standard Strand Create (L1.V.CR). Students will generate artistic work by completing their artistic ideas. It also fulfills the Utah Visual Art Core Standard Strand Respond (L1.V.R). Students will analyze how one’s understanding of the world is affected by experiencing visual imagery. I am requesting funding for easels. The students will be able to paint more accurately with their canvas in a vertical position, which increases the ability to see correct perspective. The easels will continue to be used year after year to benefit countless students.
