The apps available on the tablets will give my students the opportunities to be more mobile with their communication. They will be able to carry the devices from classroom to classroom and have a means to communicate at their constant disposal. Most of my students have a higher level of receptive communication than expressive communication. While they may be able to receive the information given by the teacher, they are unable to tell a teacher what they have learned. My students will finally be able to express their knowledge of academic content that has been modified for their instructional level. Many apps available on the tablets will not only enable communication, but they will also allow modifications to be made to the grade level content being presented by the teacher. The students will complete work comparable to the grade level content. The work will modified through technology by reading passages to them or offering one touch answers for those with motor disabilities. The less obtrusive smaller tablets as well as headphones can offer them the ability to be discrete and not distracting to the other students. These items will lead my students to independence by allowing them to become members of society rather than being on the periphery.
