With all of the safety precautions due to the Coronavirus, students aren't allowed to be up and moving as much as they used to be. My students are not allowed to roam the classroom and we can't do a lot of movement. Having this flexible seating will give my students the chance to get their wiggles out while learning at the same time. Flexible seating increases students' focus and attention which will then promote better learning. Having wobble stools will allow my students who have a hard time staying focused due to not being able to sit still the opportunity they need to be successful. Wobble stools can be used at their desks or even at the group table. Regular chairs don't allow any movement and that is when I see kids losing focus because they are too distracted by wanting to move. Not every child learns the same way and I think that is really important to remember. I have many students who love sitting on the floor but have a hard time writing. Having sitting desks will allow my students to sit on the floor when completing work and to be comfortable while doing it. Sitting desks give students the ability to sit in places around the room where they feel comfortable. My goal is to create a classroom full of flexible seating options in order for each child's needs to be met to make them successful!
