I am requesting materials to update my remote and in-person teaching capacities as well as my curriculum development abilities as a Business, Marketing and Computer Teacher. Teaching, understanding and using technology is a critical part of my teaching. Although I have made upgrades to systems and made purchases myself to support these practices, I continue to max out their capabilities and know an upgraded system would benefit my students, greatly. My students are eager, problem solving, business-minded learners, please help me provide reliable connectivity and a device that can handle multiple screens and programs to deliver instruction to my students without interruption. Live class time with students is limited under normal circumstances, and now more than ever, which is why I am seeking the MacBook Pro. This device has the capabilities to multi-task, allowing me to work more effectively while delivering higher quality content. Currently, transitioning between activities requires me to close and open activities as we move through the lesson. This process wastes valuable time but is important to keep class moving and students engaged. On average, with 3-4 transitions per class, that represents approximately 15% of class time lost to waiting for the computer and programs to respond. This valuable time could be used in more effective ways to engage students and deliver high quality instruction. In addition, the increased capabilities and efficiencies will provide me with more time to plan, research, develop new technology enhanced lessons and design new creative supports for students to help them navigate our current environment.
