This has been a tough year with students often being isolated and separated, unable to have fun together. Being able to collaborate together to complete challenges like breakout boxes will be a great way to unite students and give them the chance to get used to working together again in a way that will be exciting and challenging. I will be able to create break out box experiences that relate to a variety of subjects including math, social studies, and science.
When working on break out boxes, my students will be practicing a variety of skills.
They will have to work as a team and work on communicating with each other. They will also have to think critically and creatively as they solve the clues. A big thing they will learn is to persevere and not give up. These skills will be useful to them throughout their lives. Doing a break out box allows all of my students to work together regardless of their skill level. It is fun to see the excitement on my struggling students' faces when they are able to make a contribution to their group. It will especially be thrilling to see this excitement after the trials of this year.
