Teaching social emotional skills to my students is so important for their success in life. They will learn how to take turns, listen and follow directions, learn why following rules are important, learn how to state their needs, how to transition from one activity to the next, ways to be flexible, and the importance of sharing. During this time of uncertainty, teaching social and emotional skills will provide a foundation for a safe and positive learning environment, and will enhance my students' ability to succeed in school, careers, and in life. The photo cards and grab & write prompts, will allow us to have rich conversations to boost social-emotional awareness. My students will be able to express how they feel, prior to beginning our social emotional lessons, with their very own feelings journal. The differing abilities, We're All Wonders, and The Rainbow Fish books, will expose my students to the world around them; they will teach them empathy and ways to be helpful.
