This project is intended to inspire and encourage students to actively participate in teacher-directed writing activities by using a new mode of technology – a “Boogie Board.” A “Boogie Board” is an LCD electronic device, which would be used in place of traditional white boards. The “Boogie Board” devices are clean, safe, allergy-free and environmentally friendly. These amazing boards will take the place of a traditional pen, pencil, marker and whiteboard and will save on the use of paper within the classroom environment. These boards are portable and simple with no plug needed. The Boogie Boards provide students with a multi-sensory incentive to engage and respond in class. Students use styluses to “write” and can erase with press of a button. Boogie Boards should save time, storage space and the expenditure of dry erase products. Students will appreciate the use of the electronics as some of our population do not have regular access to electronic devices. At our school, 77.3% of our students are economically disadvantaged and really enjoy the use of electronics in the classroom. Inspiring students to feel confident and enjoy writing is my personal goal in the classroom.
