Having non-fiction readers in Spanish will help my students achieve fluency in their first language, which will then transfer into literacy skills in English. The books will build essential background knowledge through non-fiction content, which will enhance comprehension of multiple texts. Further, being biliterate will help with success in future grade writing, such as 4th-grade exams. Having access to non-fiction texts in Spanish on their level, my students will be able to build skills essential for becoming biliterate scholars, which will make them successful in both Spanish and English.
