There are a variety of STEM activities my physical science students can participate in using this rocket launcher. Rather than me just talking about projectile motion, they can actually see it in action. Students can test different launch angles to try to hit a target. Students can test different variables such as straw mass, cone shape, number of tail fins, etc. to determine the effects on height and/or distance. The rockets can be used to illustrate each of Newtons' three laws of motion. The building of the rocket itself is a STEM activity. Students will be able to use the scientific method as well as the engineering design process during their labs and also improve 21st Century Skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, communication and analysis. We can also perform cross-curricular projects with our math teachers. I have been making teaching videos for my at home students of lab activities...I plan to do the same using the rocket launcher.
