Schools closed down unexpectedly due to the COVID outbreak and our students suddenly found themselves at home, often by themselves and unable to socialize with others. As a direct result of this lack of socializing, we are seeing students all across the nation behaving poorly. Rather than punish students for their behavior, we want to acknowledge those that are displaying appropriate behavior while encouraging all students to behave appropriately. We are using a program called PBIS. Positive Behavioral Interventions Support or PBIS is a proactive approach to improve student outcomes by supporting students with positive preventative behavior rather than punishment. Our school is committed to establishing the behavioral and cultural supports that are needed for all of our student to achieve academic and emotional success. This project is a part of our reward system. Our students will be able to earn equipment tubs which will include outside time. We have a set of procedures for fostering positive behavior, as well as a set of procedures for discouraging negative behavior. Standards for this project are: Social Skills: Acceptable behaviors that improve social interactions, such as those between peers or between students and adults. 2 Create positive and supportive relationships with other students 4 Demonstrate empathy 5 Demonstrate ethical decision-making and social responsibility 9 Demonstrate social maturity and behaviors appropriate to the situation and environment Help us help our students. Thank you for taking the time to support projects like these.
