For a lot of students, coming to school everyday is their “home away from home.” Therefore, it is imperative that when they walk through my classroom and the school, they have a sense of pride and feel welcomed and comforted. My bulletin boards are not only educational but are inspiring and student driven. The boards are a place to recognize students for achievements, share our passion of agriculture and encourage students to become involved in our service organization, the FFA. It has been fun for us to create a successful and welcoming learning environment while using the Cricut. My students are involved in creating everything and have commented several times, how they really love that it brings their ideas out of their head and practically to life. We hope to work together with other student organizations to create a wall of inspiration at the end of our main hallway . The wall will be filled with inspirational words that describe, “You are why we are here.” Being able to decorate with colorful and inspirational fonts can change a mood or lift a spirit even with just one look. We would also like to design a “Gratitude Board.” Gratitude is a powerful tool for shifting a mood, a tone and an entire environment. This board is a place to add things for which we are thankful. Whether it is a drawing of the sunshine, a group photo of friends or a uplifting note; collected together they create a powerful tool. Did you know that practicing gratitude reduces bullying? One of our final goals for receiving a Cricut is to help design awards to be given to students to recognize them for their success, hard work and efforts in their student organizations.
