During distance learning last year, I read this book to my students. Save Me a Seat is told from the point of view of two fifth grade boys over the course of Ravi's (a recent immigrant from India), first week of school in America. This book touches on many themes, including bullying, cultural differences, and relationships with parents. All of my students were able to connect to some aspect of it. My students loved this book so much that several of them emailed the author begging her to write a sequel (and she wrote back!). This year I would love to get a copy into each student's hands so we can read it together in class.
