Physical Education has evolved over the years, and our school has stepped up to the challenge by offering our students an extremely wide range of physical fitness opportunities. We offer everything including basketball, disc golf, advanced weight training, rock climbing and everything in between. In recent years, mental wellness has taken a step forward in education, and our Physical Education department has been working to add curriculum that supports mental wellness while also having a physical component. We decided to add yoga to our curriculum. Yoga is a great physical exercise that allows students to take a moment to truly focus on themselves and where their mind is for the day, week, month or even year. Currently when practicing yoga, we are confined to only certain rooms due to the needed space and a softer surface. If sponsored, our students would be able to practice yoga anywhere on our campus because we would have the mats and cleaning supplies to be mobile. In yoga, it is important to be able to "leave everything on the mat." This is something which students can't currently do because we don't have mats. This sponsorship would give us the opportunity to give each student their own space to work on their physical and mental wellness.
