My name is Carjarian Miller and I am a first year school teacher. Joining the education field is challenging enough but especially during a pandemic. I entered the district as a late hire which caused me to miss all of the professional development days of the school year. By the time I was able to get on campus there were no more laptops left for me. This was really devastating to me because this left me with no choice but to use my personal computer which is in horrible condition. My screen and LCD is damaged and the 2009 computer is totally out of date causing it to operate extremely slow. Recently during one of my virtual classes the laptop cut off in the middle of my lesson due to extreme battery damage causing several students to miss the lecture for that day. This was a horrible experience and I felt extremely miserable just thinking about the affect that it would have on my students. The first 8 weeks are all virtual and to work remotely with my students with an unreliable computer can really effect the students learning ability in my class. Even after some students return to in-class instruction; most students have opted for remote instruction which I still would not have the proper technology to give those virtual students a great learning experience. This is the most effective way that I will be able to communicate with my students, upload grades, and post assignments. Please donate to my project so that I can give all of my students a more stable virtual environment while learning remotely.
