Unlike my choir, theatre, dance, and piano classes, my general music classes reach every student in the building. Because of this, I want to create an experience that will have those students leaving my class wanting more from music or at the very least leave having a better appreciation for music. The ukuleles will allow students to have a hands on experience with an instrument in which they can play music that they like. If they can make a personal connection while they are playing an instrument, they are more likely to continue to want to play. Ukeleles are an easily accessable instrument in which students can quickly be successful. My hope is that in using these, they will be motivated to continue to learn and share music throughout the rest of their lives.
