There are few experiences more powerful than finding yourself represented in literature in a meaningful way. When students feel connected to literature, their learning potential is limitless. Too often, my students struggle to find themselves on the pages of novels that have strong characters and that take place in contemporary settings. Please help me fill our classroom library with a more diverse selection of such novels. I know that my students will learn new vocabulary, increase their comprehension, and gain insight through these books. Knowing that you are important enough to be represented in a book is a powerful lesson.
