Our students have been out of the classroom since March 13th. They are now returning to school in a completely virtual world. Our students experience hunger, homelessness, trauma and so much more. When they are in the building we have supports in place to help them be successful. As a behavior specialist I have many tools I am able to use throughout the day.
In the schools I can take them to the calm down room, show them breathing techniques, allow them to move around, teach them how to use fidgets, but at home they will experience the same needs without the materials.
I am hoping to get this project funded to give these materials to the parents to help continue support my students that I miss so much!
Materials such as a yoga ball to sit on to help them make small movements. Small stuffed animals to help calm their nerves and act as a support buddy. Stress balls and fidget strings that will help maintain focus while allowing them movement that is not distracting to learning. Allowing them the opportunity for supportive tools at home with help make this crazy year just a little bit better!
