The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) published a cool article highlighting some of the benefits of allowing students to explore thermal energy and heat transfer through inquiry with a thermal imaging camera. Thermal imaging is just so cool! Students will want to see what everything looks like through this camera. The experience they get will go far to break misconceptions about heat transfer. It will help them make good choices about conserving energy for the rest of their lives, and/or give them a solid foundation for further study of thermodynamics, etc.
