Middle school is tough enough for some kids. But, it's especially tough for kids on the Autism Spectrum who have trouble cracking the social code. These kids are wonderful and want nothing more than to have a friend but can't quite figure out how that part of the world works. How do kids get into groups? Why am I not part of that group? Am I the only one who likes what I like? I don't want to be friends with everyone, I just want a good friend or two. These kids with social skill challenges blossom when they are given some instruction and support into cracking that social code. With guidance, support, and practice, these kids can enter the social world and experience the joy of having friendships and connections. So, we're forming a social group with the guidance of a Speech Pathologist to learn the communication skills needed to become and be a good friend. With so many great ideas, who wouldn't want to be their friend? We just have to help make it happen for them.
