Flexible seating allows students to easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class. Many flexible seating options stimulate students' sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Sensory bands and a variety of seating options are helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD. Flexible seating is fun. Not only does it look fun and colorful, but it creates a calm, relaxed learning environment. With different seating options, students' stress levels will go down and they can continue to do their best work while sitting comfortably. Comfortable students are calm, more focused, and very productive. Students learn better when they have a chance to work with their peers. Traditional seating can sometimes isolate students from each other. This is why I am passionate about giving my students flexible seating in my classroom.
