Social-emotional learning has become an integral part of classroom learning. Students who are not able to regulate emotions are not able to learn. My hope is that by creating a Social Emotional Learning curriculum I will be able to teach students how to regulate emotions and make responsible social decisions. This is especially important for students during distance learning. Students are experiencing anxiety and fear around COVID-19, distance learning, and a myriad of other new experiences. I am hoping that with the help of this project I am able to raise students' awareness about emotions, teach them how to identify and regulate emotions, give them strategies to use when they encounter a strong emotion, and many other useful skills that will help them for years to come. It will be especially beneficial for students to identify emotions in a narrative example, as this closely mirrors real life experiences and teaches students how to manage emotions in their own life.
