I would like to give each of my special day class OT students a personalized yoga mat to use during distance learning OT sessions. These mats will be customized with visual cues to help them learn about how their bodies move, as well as spatial concepts related to their bodies such as up/down, forward/backward, front/back, right/left, together/apart etc. This yoga program will also include breathing and relaxation activities to help with needs for calming, decreasing anxiety and being ready to learn during this time. I will have the same mat to demonstrate so that the lessons will make sense to them, and their engagement will increase. In addition to my OT education, I completed a children's yoga teacher training program with Little Flower Yoga in 2017-18 and am ready to bring the gifts of yoga practices to the students I support.
