A crucial part of literacy development is reading large amounts of diverse texts. The most powerful reading experiences are when students can connect to the text from their own lives and experiences. Major texts in the educational setting do not always reflect the lives and experiences of our students, and this project helps change that. With our project, we'll add a new class set of culturally-relevant novels for our classroom! Our plan is to get the graphic novel, The Crossover, by Kwame Alexander. This dynamic novel uses verse to hook readers with its unique style.

About my class
